Measured by density. Requires a 50 mL minimum sample volume, tightly capped and sealed. For musts, send a liquid sample. If sending grapes, we require an approximate volume of 100 mL of fruit.

Brix is the measurement of sugar content in grapes, must or wine. This test is commonly performed just before harvest to determine when you should pick your grapes. The overall sugar content of your grapes can affect the alcohol by volume percentage after fermentation. More sugar/higher Brix can mean your wine will have a higher alcohol content.
